Banglalink Digital Communications Ltd. (“Banglalink”) has developed the Banglalink Power mobile application (“Banglalink Power” or “App”) with your privacy in mind. This Privacy Policy explains how and when we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use Banglalink Power. This includes services currently offered as well as those that may be introduced in the future.
By accessing or using Banglalink Power, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of information in accordance with this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
1. Information We Collect
(a) Personal Information You Provide:
To register and use Banglalink Power, users must provide:
• Biometrically verified mobile number (MSISDN)
• One-Time Password (OTP) verification
• Full name, Date of Birth, Gender, Address
• Geographic location
• Password for account protection
These are used to:
• Verify your identity
• Maintain transaction history
• Personalize user experience
• Fulfill legal and regulatory obligations
(b) Automatic Information Collection (Log Data)
In addition to the information you provide directly, we may also collect information automatically through your use of the App. This can include your IP address, device operating system, browser type, usage patterns, transaction activity, and time spent on various screens of the app. This information helps us diagnose technical issues and improve the overall quality of the service.
(c) Optional Features
If you use optional features such as storing contact information in the Circle section, we collect and retain those details only after obtaining your explicit consent. Location data may also be collected, with your permission, to support features such as complaint handling or service optimization.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information primarily to provide and improve the services offered through the App. This includes account management, customer support, sending important updates, ensuring secure transactions, and tailoring offers based on your usage behavior.
Your information may also be used to prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activities, enforce our terms of service, resolve disputes, or respond to customer inquiries. We may analyze usage trends and user behavior to enhance App functionality and user experience.
If you opt in, we may also use your contact details to send you promotional offers, service updates, or recommendations that we believe may be of interest to you.
3. Disclosure to Third Parties
We may share your personal information with trusted third parties, such as payment processors, mobile financial service (MFS) providers, banks, and service partners, in order to facilitate specific functions like payments, account verification, tax deductions, or promotional campaigns.
These third parties are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data and to use it only for the purposes agreed upon with Banglalink.
In certain circumstances, we may also disclose your information to regulatory bodies or law enforcement agencies if required by applicable laws, or in response to a valid legal process.
4. Data Security
Protecting your personal data is a priority for us. We employ a range of technical and organizational security measures to prevent unauthorized access, including encrypted data transmission, secure servers, firewalls, and access controls. Two-factor authentication through OTP is also used to safeguard your account.
However, no digital platform can guarantee complete security. We encourage users to protect their login information and exercise caution when using shared or public devices.
5. Account and Data Management
We value your privacy and want to ensure you have full control over your personal data. You have the right to delete your account and all associated personal information stored in the Banglalink Power App.
If you are using an Android device, the deletion process is straightforward. Within the App, navigate to the Settings section, select Own Account, and then choose the Delete Account option. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
Once your request is verified, your account and associated data will be deleted securely. This includes removing all identifiable information from our active databases. After deletion, Banglalink will have no traceable or recoverable data associated with your account.
6. Permissions and Device Access
To deliver full functionality, the Banglalink Power App requires access to certain features and data on your mobile device. By installing and using the App, you provide your consent for Banglalink to access and use the following:
• Internet Access: The App requires access to the internet to fetch and send data to Banglalink servers in real time, and to enable seamless operation of services within the App.
• Location (GPS and Background Location): Your device’s GPS data may be collected to enable location-based services. This helps ensure valid usage, detect fraud, and personalize user experiences. Background location may also be used to support continuous service delivery.
• Alarm Permission: The App may trigger alarms and timers to manage timely notifications, reminders, or internal system processes.
• Ignore Battery Optimizations: To ensure uninterrupted background operations, especially for location tracking and real-time notifications, the App may request permission to override battery-saving features.
• Notifications: You may receive in-app and push notifications related to your account, transactions, offers, or service updates.
• Camera Access: The App may request access to your device’s camera for capturing photos or scanning documents required for registration or feature use.
• Gallery Access: You may be asked to select and upload files (e.g., photos, NID scans) from your device’s gallery as part of the App’s functionality.
• Phone Call Permission: The App may allow direct dialing to Banglalink customer care or your assigned distributor via the in-app call feature.
• SIM Data Information: The App may access SIM-specific data such as, including but not limited to, signal strength, cell tower ID, or network type to facilitate SIM-based services and support operational accuracy.
All permissions are used solely to enhance service delivery, ensure system efficiency, and comply with operational and regulatory requirements.
7. Consent and User Acknowledgment
By using the Banglalink Power App, you expressly provide your consent and authorize Banglalink to collect, process, and store your personal information and service usage data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. You also authorize Banglalink to share your data with third parties under the conditions described above.
You acknowledge and accept that electronic communication (including via the App) is a valid means of providing consent and receiving important information under this Privacy Policy.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information/data as long as necessary to serve the purposes for which it was collected.
9. Children’s Privacy
Banglalink Power is not intended for individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that a child has submitted personal data, we will promptly delete it. Parents or guardians who believe their child has shared personal information with us may contact us for immediate action.
10. Cross-Border Data Transfer
Banglalink Power is intended for use in Bangladesh only. If accessed from outside the country, you do so voluntarily and agree to data processing under Bangladeshi law, even if it offers different protections than your home jurisdiction.
11. Links to Other Sites
The Banglalink Power App may contain links to external websites or services operated by third parties. If you click on any such third-party link, you will be directed to a site that is not operated by Banglalink. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policies of those websites before sharing any personal information. Please note that Banglalink does not control and is not responsible for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
12. Policy Updates
Banglalink may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in legal requirements, service features, or internal practices. If we make any changes to the Policy, we will notify users through appropriate means within the App, and we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy.
Continued use of the Banglalink Power App after such updates will be considered as acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the App and delete your account.
We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting their information.
